Spotlight players and K-State Scouting Report

My spotlight players read like a broken record, but there is so much emphasis put on the backfields on both offense and defense.

has lost his starting Q position at Georgia Tech to Haynes King.

I'll get more of a feel for all of the teams as the season goes on. This is really my first big college basketball exposure, so it will take some time, but I know the game enough to at least get some impact players mentioned.

GAMEDAY THREAD: WBB vs. Southern

We're just over an hour away from tipoff of the first OFFICIAL game of the season for the Lady Bears basketball team.

As I have mentioned before, I am not much of a basketball guy. I am not going to let that stop me though. Please continue to comment your thoughts and takeaways as well so I can look at things from ever perspective possible.

Now let's go get a win to start what should be a great season!

GAME STORY: Baylor WBB opens season with win over Southern

Couldn't secure picture for tonight, so putting directly on the forum. Here's to a good basketball season!
WACO, Texas— The Baylor Lady Bears basketball team opened their season in the Ferrell Center for the final time with an 85-53 win over the Southern University Jaguars in a game that saw Baylor run away in the second half after leading by only eight at halftime.

Dre’Una Edwards led the Lady Bears in scoring with 20 total points in the game, with 10 of them coming in the first quarter alone. It is also notable that she did not see any floor time in the fourth quarter. The 6’0 Kentucky made her Baylor debut one to remember, for sure.

Baylor took the early lead to open the game, but Southern stayed right with them almost point-for-point. After one quarter of play, the Lady Bears led 21-14. Senior guard Sarah Andrews recorded four assists in the opening stanza of the match to make her own mark on the game early on.

It stayed just as close throughout the second quarter as the Jaguars’ Soniyah Reed scored 8 points, ironically to keep it at an eight point deficit for Southern heading into the break. Aside from Reed’s stat line in the quarter, it was a mostly defensive quarter for both teams, with the score standing at 37-29.

Out of the locker room, the Lady Bears came out ready to put the game to rest. Edwards and Andrews combined for 13 points in the frame, while Jada Walker added four more points of her own.

In the fourth and final quarter, the Jaguars just simply did not have enough. Reed was held to no points despite playing more than half of the frame. Madison Bartley, a transfer from Belmont, introduced herself to Baylor fans in the fourth with nine points, while Walker added five points and three assists of her own, bringing her game totals to 15 and 4 respectively. Walker also led the game defensively with 4 defensive rebounds, 3 steals and a block.

Baylor now gets over a week off before they take on Utah at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 at the Ferrell Center.

Basketball season

Let me start by letting y'all know that I have my usual Monday article (What went right/wrong, and the commit performances) ready for publish, as well as a preview of tomorrow's Baylor vs. Auburn basketball game. However I am having some problems with actually getting them on the main site. The forum seems to be working fine so I don't know if this is on the Rivals publishing side, or mine.

I am currently working on the problem, but I am definitely having a problem at the moment.

As long as the forum is working, I am here for the women's game tonight with updates.

ARTICLE LINK: Baylor basketball is ready for more success on both sides

This is just a basic outlook, as I am getting my feet wet with Baylor basketball. I plan to go more in-depth with each team within the next week that will break down more players, and the schedules they will be facing. Thank you all for your patience. As usual, I will get better with time.

I will also be starting my power rankings soon, however I will use the current preseason AP power rankings to start the season so I have a confident starting point.

ARTICLE LINKS: Yesterday's posts- recruit performances and my thoughts on Saturday

Sorry I didn't get this posted on the forum yesterday. I have groomsman duties to attend to this week, so once they were posted I just closed my laptop and moved to the next priority. I should have taken the extra couple of minutes to get them on here, it won't happen again.

This coming Saturday

I was praying and hoping that Baylor would get the 11 a.m. kickoff time so I could cover the game against Houston remotely. Unfortunately the game is at 2:30 p.m. (on ESPN+) and I am the best man in a wedding that starts at 4:30.

I will still do my best to keep up with the game and the thread during the day right up to the ceremony, and then I will have my laptop with me to get a story and the press conference from the reception. Just wanted to y'all to know that this Saturday will be a little different, but I will still be here.
