TOMORROW, AUGUST 11, MARKS THE END OF UTAH'S LONG SUMMER SESSION......NOW, WE
MAY POSSIBLY SEE , IN A FEW DAYS, CARTER, IN A BAYLOR UNIFORM, PARTICIPATING AND GETTING READY
FOR HIS ALL-AMERICAN YEAR.
Sic 'em Bears, fans, Carter, be the best you can be.....
I'm having some issues getting the videos uploaded to the main site from the interviews with Blake Shapen and Sawyer Robertson. If I don't solve it within a couple more hours, I will transcribe them and post them as articles.
Just hours after Washington and Oregon leave for the Big Ten, and Arizona leaves for the Big 12, Arizona State and Utah have officially applied for Big 12 membership!
I imagine the board would be meeting within the evening to vote them in.
The 6-foot athlete out of Comanche announced his commitment on the X social media platform just days after making a visit to Waco and landing an official offer.
"It felt like home and they have a great culture," he said in a message when asked for a quote. "I love how the coaches are going to make me grow as a player but also as a person."
So since many of you have time to spare today, let’s talk about the upcoming season and expectations.
Although I was not happy with Blake Shapen’s season last year, I’m going to consider it a learning and growing year for him. I think he comes back with a vengeance. Now he will need help, especially from the offensive line, but given protection and open receivers, I feel like he will potentially be the comeback player of the year in the Big 12. We know he has the skill set. His biggest obstacle will be between the ears. So the first game will be huge for him. He needs to set the time against an inferior opponent and have a great mindset going into the Utah game.
We have the running game, now we need all aspects of the passing game to step up.
As for the defense, that is very much an unknown with a lot of new faces. But give Arandas mentality, I can’t help but think the aggressive style of two years ago resurfaces.
We will knock on the door to the Big 12 title game, and hopefully the door opens!
It is official. As Oregon and Washington leave the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, the Arizona Wildcats will follow Colorado into the Big 12 in 2024, making it a 14 team league! What happens next?
Graduate transfer from BYU Clark Barrington has been placed on the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy, the award for the Best Center in college football. I expect him to be a massive presence up front for the Bears this season.
This is getting more and more real with every passing day. The Board of Regents is meeting again tonight and it seems the talks are getting way more serious.
There are rumblings of West Virginia is exploring the option to leave the conference and go Independent by 2025. Though it is just rumblings and a long way out, school officials have definitely hinted it's something they are looking at to "ensure the long-term success of WVU athletics."
We've waited a while and it's here! I am unable to make it to Waco today but I am heading there first thing in the morning to meet the athletic staff and see the facilities, before tomorrow's practice. That will include interviews!
The Arizona Board of Regents, which controls Arizona U and Arizona State, is scheduled to meet tonight at 5:30 pm central time to discuss the realignment rumors.
At the same time, the Pac-12 is supposed to ask member schools about a new media deal that will be a last ditch attempt to keep the conference together.
