If anything, recruits understand the game better than the fans and media do. They should. They play it. Sometimes, you just get beat. So here's a sampling from several who reacted to Baylor's 44-34 loss to Oklahoma. We hope to add more as we move forward.

>Zach Smith, QB, Grandview (Baylor 2016 commit): "They didn't play like the usual Baylor team. Just everything wasn't clicking like it usually was. But it's not going to every time and OU ended up taking advantage of the mistakes. The program is still the best in the country, and they will regroup and finish strong.''

>Chris Miller, S, Frisco Lone Star (Baylor 2016 commit): "A loss is sad but the defense still showed up when they needed it the most. They had a lot of big stop to keep them in the game.''

>Kaegun Williams, RB, Cedar Hill (Baylor 2017 interest): "They honestly played pretty good offensively. If they didn't have a couple of turnovers and drops they would have easily won. They are still one of the top programs in the nation.''

>D'Torian Smith, DE, Tatum (Baylor 2017 interest): "It was two great teams going at it. They never gave up which is all you can ask for. The program is still one of the best in the Big 12 and in the country.''

>Kellen Mond, QB, San Antonio Reagan (Baylor 2017 commit): "I don't think Baylor played bad at all. Baylor was making plays all night but couldn't capitalize on the ones they needed. But the atmosphere was electric.''

>Kary Vincent, Jr., DB, Port Arthur Memorial (Baylor 2017 offer): "They fought to the end. They have die hard fans. Despite the loss, I really enjoyed it.''

>Jhamon Ausbon, WR, Houston St. Thomas (Baylor 2017 commit): "Baylor played a good game. OU just played better that day.''
