Well the No. 14 Bears (22-8, 10-7) have now played themselves into a position where they need help this week. They would be ticketed for the 4-5 game in the Big 12 tournament.

Even when this was a 10-point lead deep into the second half, it never felt good. Then when Texas whittled it 50-45, it was just a crapshoot. It came down to guard play. It always does. Kenny Chery and Lester Medford combined for 13 points on 5-of-20 shooting. They also had five turnovers and four assists. Chery had all four. I really thought he was coming out of it Saturday. But he has been up and down since Texas Tech.

Chery's decisions at the end of regulation and OT were bad because he's going against 6-10 Prince Ibeh and 6-11 Myles Turner. Both shots were blocked. If you're going to do that, you better make sure you create the loft on the shot you want. Otherwise you get what you deserve.

By the way, Johnathan Mötley, Ish Wainwright and John Heard should be back for Texas Tech. This was a leaving the bench ejection.

Just an overall rough shooting night at 33 percent (21-63). Sometimes that just happens. The rebounding advantage (46-30) should have been enough. It wasn't.

The desperate team won this game. It's a theme that's been going on this weekend. Texas snapped a four-game losing streak and ended Baylor's four-game winning streak. Baylor didn't need the game but there will be some things discussed between now and Friday about late game decisions.

While he had another double double, Rico Gathers really did nothing in the overtime.

Taurean Prince is just a man. Sometimes I wonder in games like these if everybody waits for him to take over. That's why this offense can look choppy.

Now the regular season concludes Friday against Texas Tech with senior night. You want to reclaim some momentum going to Kansas City next week.
