Patrick Fields is a 6'6, 200 lb. wing player from Panola CC in Carthage, Texas.

Fields graduated from San Antonio Jay High School in 2002, and he initially walked on at Ole Miss under the agreement that he would pay his first year, and that they would then put him on scholarship from that point forward.

For whatever reason after that first year was over with, he decided to transfer back closer to home to Panola College out in east Texas where he is currently in the midst of his first year right now. According to the Ole Miss official athletics website, they do not show him as having played in any games whatsoever, and the Panola site has him listed as a freshman, so evidently, he did not use up any eligibility whatsoever during the time he spent at Ole Miss.

Hoopmasters has Fields listed as the #91 ranked JUCO recruit nationally for this year, and also have this clip on him:

"Mississippi transfer can score from three with regularity, but is at his best in transition, filling lane scoring off the dribble or pull-up jumper."

An August 2002 clip from hoop scoop online has this description on him:(link)

"Fields, who played AAU ball this summer with Texas Blue Chip and is multi-dimensional enough to be a good role player at three different positions, including point guard"

And here is one other article I found discussing him, from the Jackson(Miss) Clarion Ledger dated March 30, 2003:(link)

"Fields' options include Baylor, the University of Texas-San Antonio, Southwest Texas State or attending a junior college.

"He just hasn't made up his mind yet," Patricia Fields said about her son. "He wants to be somewhere near home. He's my first to go off to college, and we had no idea he'd be homesick."

Fields, a 6-5 redshirt freshman, was not on scholarship this season but was expected to play a key role in the backcourt as soon as the 2003-04 season because of his versatility and ball-handling.

Earl Soal, a family friend who claims to be "somewhat of a father figure" to Fields, said there were also concerns about continuing to pay out-of-state tuition with no assurances from Barnes' staff that Fields would be awarded a scholarship in the future.

Barnes said Fields only expressed a desire be closer to home when the two last met after the season. Ole Miss has three scholarships to offer heading into the late signing period."

Fields is currently the 7th leading scorer and rebounder in the Region XIV conference, according to the official site(link)

As of 2/8/04, his statline reads as follows:

17.6 PPG, 41% fg, 36% 3 pointers, 71% FT, 8 RPG, and 1 APG

My understanding is that Fields is somewhere on the middle of our list, in case we cannot get one of the higher rated players such Jesus Verdejo.
