Interesting notes: In 1 through 10, Minnesota had 22, Grambling had 13, Florida A&M had 12, and West Texas A&M had 12.
TCU had 12. Big 10 was the dominating conference in the first 10, but also remember that the NFL didn't have any teams south of the Mason Dixon line or west of Chicago (except San Francisco and Los Angeles) until 1960. Up until then, the NFL was almost exclusively a rust belt league, and most of the players came from rust belt schools. Because of segregation, small, historically black colleges produced a lot of NFL players. IIRC, at one time, Grambling had more players in the NFL than any other college.
