Maybe we should throw all our recruiting thoughts into one thread if you guys want to, since we are scattershooting across 3 or 4 right now.
Some thoughts:
1. Looks like our class is solid with no potential flips. Good for us.
2. We still are running at Haughton and I like it. Don't give up on a local player to OU until he shuts you down. Doubt anything happens there, no big deal if it doesn't, but cool if it does.
3. Some of the more prominent names we have been following, either because we wanted them or they are just a big name, are going to the wire:
Soso Jamabo: said Texas is out, appears headed to UCLA
Daylon Mack: also said Texas is out, appears to be headed to A&M, thought TCU is adamant they are still in this since he proclaimed them his leader in January;
Damarkus Lodge: 100% Ole Miss according to everybody. So, this is the one that I wouldn't be surprised if A&M flipped him.
Kris Boyd: late rumors that Aggie was back in the picture, which he shut down on Twitter this morning. He's a Horn.
4. Nationally, some top rated guys are waiting until tomorrow. Terry Beckner appears headed to Missouri, though the bag men may have something to say about that. USC is poised to lock down 3 or 4 from the national top 30 or so. Tennessee appears to be winning a brutal battle for 5 star OL Drew Richmond over Ole Miss. And Auburn and Florida are head to head on at least 5 undecided recruits. Very interesting since a month ago Muschamp was pimping Florida to these guys and now he's at Auburn.
5. Alabama has the "top" class in the bag, though USC is going to close the gap substantially. Some surprisingly good classes, i.e. Tennessee is going to be a "top" 5 class. Makes you wonder. South Carolina had a monster class for months and seen it picked apart by its SEC rivals, but still a nice class. FSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Auburn all with very nice classes, as expected.
6. The Harbaugh Effect appears to be negligible for 2015. Barring some miracle flips, Michigan's class is going to be small and not very impressive, as Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State utterly plundered Michigan's normal hunting grounds.
7. Like it or not, admit or not, rationalize it or not: Charlie Strong's class is simply astounding considering how bad they were. They will pick up Chris Warren tomorrow and possibly one more "name" player. "Top10" class for what that's worth. By the way, no matter what you say, the stats don't lie and they say it means a lot. It hasn't for Texas lately, but there's new leadership in town so we shall see. Color me a little skeptical.
8. If you're interested, we should stay in the 37-42 area in Rivals' national ranking and either 5th or 6th in the Big 12. Our class is fairly close, ratings wise, with OSU's. Just reporting the facts, man. Much rather have our class. OU likely to pick up a couple more and move up. Tech is next behind us and not likely to move up at all.
9. Aggie. Arghhie. If they get Mack, this class is just monstrous. If Lodge flipped....well, you know. Lodge on one side, Speedy Noil on the other.
10. Blake Lynch. I needed 10 thoughts and just thought I'd mention how thrilled I am to have this kid coming to Baylor. Rock solid since he committed, monster senior year under difficult circumstances, already on campus and making progress. One kid don't make a class, but if it did, he's it.
