The Bears were pretty much in control from the opening tap in front of 7,041 at the Ferrell Center. It was the opener for both teams.

Baylor had 10 different players score led by senior forward Rico Gathers who had 18. The Bears had six players in double figures and shot 64.3 percent from the field. Newcomers King McClure and Jake Lindsey had 11 and seven respectively.

If you remember the stories I've written on McClure and his game, he said he's really worked at being a better jump shooter. Well, it was a good start as he was 3-4 from 3-point range.

A decent start for Lester Medford at the point with nine assists and four turnovers. Ish Wainright had six helpers. Baylor committed only eight turnovers.

The team travels to Eugene, OR Saturday for a Monday game at Oregon.

Also, the No. 5 women's team swarmed UT-Arlington in its opener, 62-20. That's not a misprint.
