WR: Ishmael Zamora (RS Soph)
- If you drew up the 'perfect' WR, it would look pretty close to this kid.
- Size, PHYSICAL, seems to be able to catch the football, freakish athlete
- I would imagine he steps into the starting role vacated by CoCo
splits some time with
Tren Dickson (True FR)
- Arrives in a couple of weeks. Think he plays here.
Jared Atkinson (True FR)
- Should be in line for a RS
IR: Davion Hall (Jr)
- Great blocker. Not a great catcher of the football. In fact, can't remember a WR with more drops than Hall during the Briles era.
- Would love to see him take Orion Stewart's job at Safety. It's already been proven...through special teams...and there is no doubt...that he is a better tackler than Stewart. (It's a miracle to me that Stewart will be a 3 year starter by the time he's done...) Hall was outstanding in High School.
- One of the most critical players to watch this Spring. This Spring is make or break time for Hall at WR.
Lynx Hawthrone (RS SR)
- I take back everything I ever said about him. What a tough player. Serviceable and reliable. Thought we saw a whole new element of his athleticism during the bowl game. Didn't realize he was THAT explosive.
Pooh Stricklin (RS FR)
-Reports seem to be positive. Looks the part. Think we'll see him in a limited role. That will depend on Hall's development.
Denzel Mims (True FR)
-Big kid. Likely a RS
IR: K.D. Cannon (JR)
- Can he become that guy? Needs to have a come to Jesus sit down with Art. We saw quite a transformation from last year...and not necessarily in the best way...needs to reel it in and recenter it all. Could be a great one. I think he can if one or two other guys can also step up. This is a big year for him
Chris Platt (RS Soph)
-Seems to be special. physical and smooth. Excited to continue to watch him develop.
Chris Johnson (RS JR)
- Is this where he lands? This is where he was for part of the year. Or does he become more of a TE ( a position where we are very thin) It'll be interesting to watch this during the spring.
Devin Duvernay (True FR)
- I think he RS. Some of the great have done it and waited their turn. There is no sense in playing him for only about a dozen or so catches next year. Unless of course he's better than the other inside group, and he can play there. But I'm predicting a RS here at this spot.
WR: Quan Jones (RS JR)
-Jay Lee 2.0? Can he step in and be a big, reliable target? It's his turn, but can he step in and do it?
Blake Lynch (RS FR)
- Or does this guy step in and be the guy? I'm betting they'll split with Lynch eventually becoming the guy. He's going to be a good one. Just a matter of time.
That's how I'm seeing it. There's a lot of good battles/competition in this group. But it's going to be key as we go forward for 2-3 of these guys to really develop in the next 9 months as we keep going. This is going to be VERY interesting to follow in the Spring.
