This is what I said about Grimes in the hot board.
Jeff Grimes, BYU, Offensive Coordinator
As we mentioned, he and Aranda overlapped at LSU in 2016-17 when he was the running game coordinator. Grimes has been at BYU in 2018. Using QB Zach Wilson into a potential first round NFL draft choice. BYU is currently No. 7 in the nation in total offense at 522.2 yards per game.
Grimes also has a history of coaching the offensive line. It’s not uncommon for and OC to be in charge of the offensive line.
UPDATE: There's a team meeting at 8:15 am today. It's a zoom call because everybody is off campus.
UPDATE (8:45): So here's the deal on the coaching situation and the way I understand it to be coming down.
Jeff Grimes will be the OC and work with the TEs.
BYU OL coach Eric Mateos is expected to join Grimes and be the new OL coach.
Chanci Stuckey from Clemson, who had been working in player development for Dabo Swinney, should be the new WR coach.
Shawn Bell expected to move from TE to the new QB coach. Makes sense since he played the position at Baylor.
S&C is Vic Villoria from LSU. I got a tip Saturday suggesting that was probably the case. Remember, I mentioned him on Saturday.
