From Yahoo! Sports: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/houston-s-board-of-regents-chairman-wants-to-threaten-his-way-into-the-big-12-005802034.html

I wouldn't expect to see anything happen on this. The chair of the Houston Board of Regents, Tilman Fertitta, wants in the Big 12, and says he wants to put pressure on the B12 presidents to let UH in, and if that doesn't work, get the state legislature to withhold funding.

It's no surprise that Houston wants in. It's also no surprise the B12 isn't particularly interested. Houston wouldn't add any media markets, and both UT and A&M are more popular than the Cougs in their home city.

The problem for Houston is that they would be a drain on the other B12 school resources. Networks would not be willing to pay any additional money for a conference that included Houston, and Houston would get a share of current conference money, which would come out of each school's pocket.

Unless the school has significant clout in the legislature, very little chance of it happening.
