Didn't want to let this day pass without recognizing and celebrating with the young 89-year-old.

Congratulations to you on this great day.

Some things that were happening in 1933.

>Franklin D. Roosevelt was in his 5th month in his first term as the 32nd president of the United States. Presidents were inaugurated on March 4 back then.

>The first drive-in movie theatre opened in New Jersey.

>Construction of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge began.

>Albert Einstein immigrated to the United States.

>The 21st amendment is passed, repealing prohibition.

>The price for a gallon of gas was 18 cents.

>The cost of a movie ticket was about 35 cents.

>Michigan won College Football's National Championship

>Led by Carl Hubbell and Mel Ott, the New York Giants defeated the Washington Senators in the World Series, 4 games to 1.

>Baylor football went 6-4 and finished second in the SWC but had wins over TCU and Texas. Home games were played at Carroll Field.

Other things in context (Not so good but it is what it is)

>Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany.

>The United States was in the throws of the Great Depression (My dad was 10; my mom was 3)

>We were hit with the Dust Bowl. You can bet his parents didn't throw anything away unless it was deemed not usable. They kept everything just in case because that's just how it was and that was passed on to their children.

When Ahnachat marks the time

>He was born when the last of the Civil War veterans were alive.

>He was 6 years old when Gone with the Wind premiered in 1939.

>He was 8 years old when the United States entered World War II.

>He was 12 when the Japanese surrendered to the United States marking the end of the WWII.

>He was 19 when Elizabeth became Queen of England in 1952,

>He was 20 when Jonas Salk developed the vaccine for polio in 1953.

>He was 30 on the tragic JFK day in Dallas in 1963

>He was almost 36 when man landed on the moon in 1969.

I could go on. But suffice to say, it's been a life where he has seen so much personally, professionally and the world at large. A life well lived and many more to come.

Hope it was a day filled with celebration with the family, you whipper snapper.
