I didn't create the playoff system nor am I in charge of recruiting for our defense, but we are seriously hurting ourselves by poor defensive play. Will that change against TT? Possibly, but I didn't think it would be an issue going into the third game of the season either.
The playoff committee would rather see us hold an FCS team, or any team, to 10 points that score 66. It just makes us look like a better team.
Allowing an FCS team to score TDs rather than Field Goals for those three turnovers is unacceptable.
Defensive recruiting is suffering with recruits openly speaking about our lack of commitment to defense.
We don't have LB or DB talent or depth. Can't be fixed this year.
This defense is built for turnovers and we are not getting them.
I realize that since we are Big 12 champions two years in a row and have been to bowls for 8 or so years in a row that we aren't supposed to say anything that some might construe as negative, but those people are the same ones who pretended the Emperor had clothes on.
I sure hope it gets better, because right now we sure look like we are going to have to score 80 to beat TT and 50 to beat everyone else.
