Baylor HC Dave Aranda said Monday on his Big 12 Coaches Call segment that LB Terrel Bernard (left shoulder) and RB Sqwirl Williams (MCL, ACL tears) are done for the season with their respective injuries.

Williams, a redshirt freshman, suffered his injury in the second quarter of Saturday night's 38-31 loss to Iowa State. On a non-contact play, Williams was cutting to his left on the carry when his knee gave way. When he was able to get to his feet, he hopped to the sidelines.

For the season, Williams led all Baylor running backs with 197 yards and two touchdowns. His 82-yard effort against TCU on Oct. 31. was a season best for any ball carrier. Williams missed the 2019 season with a right knee injury.

Baylor is now without Williams. However, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda said senior running back John Lovett (possible concussion) is available for Saturday's game at Texas Tech. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton and tight end Ben Sims will also be available for the game.

Bernard, a junior, was injured in the third quarter. He was attempting to tackle Iowa State QB Brock Purdy when Purdy ran for 29 yards. When Bernard missed, he landed hard on his left side and came off the field favoring it.

The heart and soul of this defense, Bernard was able to return to the game and finish. He was replaced for a time by Abram Smith. Aranda said Smith would step into that role.

Bernard leads all Baylor defenders with 55 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He was an All-Big 12 performer in 2019 and the Bears' lone representative on the 2020 pre-season all conference team.

He moved to the weak side this year when Iowa transfer Dillon Doyle became immediately eligible. Bernard moved to MLB last October when Clay Johnston was lost for the season with a torn ACL against Texas Tech.

SicEmSports will update this story as more details emerge.
