Each week, Big 12 coaches have their weekly meetings with the media at their press conferences during the college football season. Baylor head coach Dave Aranda’s comments have already been posted. Rankings are from the AP & Coaches Polls. Here are some highlights elsewhere in the league. Quotes and notes are taken from those pressers if not specified elsewhere. All games are Saturday unless otherwise noted.

Lance Leipold, Kansas – The Jayhawks (3-0) play host to Duke: Kansas is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2009 following an impressive 48-30 win at future Big 12 member Houston. New territory, for sure. "You can see things are starting to swing momentum-wise for us. I see a lot of resiliency in this group," Leipold said. "The biggest thing is: How are we going to handle it? There is still a lot of season to be played." The play of QB Jalon Daniels has been a major part of the success. He had three passing TDs and two rushing TDs against the Cougars. "The big picture for what he did for this team was really remarkable," Leipold said.

Brent Venables, Oklahoma – The No. 6/6 Sooners (3-0) play host to Kansas State: Venables was very encouraged about his team came out of the 49-14 victory at Nebraska. ““I love the way we're developing, again, our leadership and our mindset and these guys are super, super hungry,” Venables said. “They want you to coach them hard. And when I say, like, they are literally sitting on the edge of their seat in every meeting, I can't say it any more clearly and truthfully. And when we go to practice, it's the same thing. We coach them really hard, we hold them accountable, but they receive it.”

Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State – The No. 9/8 Cowboys (3-0) have a bye week: Backup QB Gunnar Gundy, son of Mike, threw for 128 yards and his first two college TD passes in the 63-7 blowout of UAPB. “I mean, I’m still dad,’’ Mike said.”Obviously, you know, I watch them all. He played well. I thought that he handled the system, he converted some third downs, he ran the ball effectively. I think there was a couple times where they disguised and rolled coverage and instead of forcing the ball into coverage, he pulled it down and took off, which is normal when you’re young and early in your career. I’m pleased with the way he played.”

Neal Brown, West Virginia – The Mountaineers (1-2) plays at Virginia Tech, Thursday: A breather win over Towson helped. But there’s a quick turnaround this week. “When you're dealing with the age group that we're dealing with, they probably get over it a lot faster,’’ Brown said of his team bouncing back from the loss to Kansas. “If you're asking about the coaching staff, it probably took them a bit longer. Usually about 48 hours, guys are going, ready to go. One thing is, I can tune out the social media. They can't. That's how they live. So they see all the negativity, especially earlier in the week.”

Chris Klieman, Kansas State – The Wildcats (2-1) play at Oklahoma: There are frustrations with the offense especially after the stunning loss to Tulane. It starts with QB Adrian Martinez. “We gotta get him to cut it loose, without question,” Klieman said. “We gotta get him to cut it loose and be free. If he makes a mistake, he makes a mistake,’’ Klieman said. " “It did not perform the way it needs to. Stats are our stats, but we need to be more explosive and have more explosive plays in the passing game.”

Matt Campbell, Iowa State – The Cyclones (3-0) play host to Baylor: Maybe the ceiling has been raised for this team. "I feel what I've seen, from a positive standpoint, is we are showing up ready to rock and roll. I feel from a physicality standpoint, from an attitude and effort standpoint, some things that we say are the cornerstones of where we want to be, I really like where we are at. From a precision and detail, we're still young.”

Joey McGuire, Texas Tech – The Red Raiders (2-1) play host to Texas: Among all of the things McGuire has to prepare against Texas is the ‘Horns down’. While he thinks its silly, he has to get his team to use judgment. "It really, truly makes me laugh that that's a rule," he said, "but it is a rule and we're going to play by it and I'll make sure. I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings."…the earliest QB Tyler Shough could return is Oct. 8 against Oklahoma State.

Sonny Dykes, TCU – The Horned Frogs (2-0) play at SMU: It’s going to be an interesting environment at Gerald J. Ford Stadium Saturday when former SMU and current head coach Sonny Dykes returns to face his former team. A crowd beyond capacity (32,000) is expected to be on hand Saturday morning. SMU has won the last two meetings.

Steve Sarkisian, Texas – The No. 22/19 Longhorns (2-1) play at Texas Tech: Texas on Sunday appealed DeMarvion Overshown's targeting ejection in the fourth quarter of the UTSA win. If that's not overturned, he'll have to sit out the first half against Texas Tech. Sarkisian said he hasn't heard anything back yet from the Big 12. If Overshown can't start, Texas probably will turn to Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey. "We'll be OK. Would I love to have Agent Zero out there? Sure," Sarkisian said.
