I saw the reports out there of Stidham likely being out for the Oklahoma State. Art Briles said on his Big 12 coaches call segment that an MRI on Stidham showed everything was good. Of course, Stidham was bruised up. But Briles said Stidham is expected to play.

Art Briles, Baylor
On injuries as a whole:
Not so bad. It was moreso on offense than defense. It’s late in the year. We’ll see who is ready to go Saturday.

UPDATE: Briles at his Monday presser
>Really no change on what he said about Stidham in the call.

>RB Johnny Jefferson - Not injured. Should play this week at Oklahoma State.
>DE Shawn Oakman (left knee) -- Should be OK to play at OSU
>DT Beau Blackshear (right knee) -- Doubtful for OSU
>S Orion Stewart (back spasms) -- Should know during the week
>DT Byron Bonds (knee strain) -- Doubtful for OSU

On what makes Oklahoma State effective: They play well together offense, defense and special teams. They stay in the game. They’re always in a position to have a chance to win. Over the last 5-6 weeks, they’ve been a team that’s been potentially overlooked by some people. Not by our people. They’re a really really solid football team.

On QB Jarrett Stidham: The MRI was clean. He was bruised and sore. He battled hard.

On the point of emphasis with the OL: We’re going to have to stick with our technique. Knowledge and technique.

On the physical play against Oklahoma: We certainly thought it was a tough physical game. We played a really good team. We feel like we are too. You had two teams that gave tremendous effort. At the end of the day, they made more plays.

On the challenge of on the road: Well, we use the word opportunity. As coaches and players, were on the 7-day clock. It’s not a bounce back mode. You do what you do. You plan and prepare each week. We’re not excited over a victory. We’re not sticking our chest out. If it’s the other way, you just keep doing what you’re doing.

On OSU’s Emmanual Ogbah: He’s physically very gifted…6-4, 275. He has the attitude. He has all of the accolades.

Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
On the relationship with QBs Mason Rudolph and J.W. Walsh:
“I think we just fell into it with preseason practice. In games, both of them give our football team a chance to win. They are good people and unselfish. It’s a very delicate but it’s working. I’m not sure it would work any other year. As the season has grown, they’ve learned to work together and developed a neat relationship.

On Walsh: He’s a good leader and has the ability to rush the ball. There’s no question they want to play all 80 plays. If they didn’t feel that way, we wouldn’t want them to play. But they have bought into it that this gives us the best chance to have success.

On the line of scrimmage vs. Baylor: Each game you have to win your share of battles inside the lines. Then it’s about the skill players…running backs making people miss, wide receivers catching passes.

On defending Baylor: It helps some [that they have some wide receivers who can simulate what Baylor does]. But Baylor is a little different. They have great speed out there. This is a tremendous league with skill people who can make you miss in space. Your defense has to be on its toes every snap.

On Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham: He’s tremendous. He’s athletic and has a strong arm. He’s as advertised coming out of high school.

On playing at Boone Pickens: I think it’s like most stadiums. It’s difficult to play at everybody’s home stadium. You’re a little more familiar with the players. If you’re a good team, you’re going to play good no matter where you’re at. If you’re an average team, you’re going to play wherever you’re at.

On Jordan Stearns in the secondary: Jordan has been kind of the emotional leader. He’s a tough guy on defense. He plays through a lot of snaps (115 at Texas Tech, 90+ vs TCU). He’s fought through it. Showing signs of toughness.

On playing Stearns a lot: I mentioned a month ago, the schedule with the games in the latter part of the season are going to be 90-100 snaps back to back to back. I’m concerned about the reps for all of our defensive players.

On playing young QBs in the Big 12: We have young quarterbacks who are high quality players. There’s going to be a run of big numbers in the big league…to play freshman right away, it’s about maturity and experience and reps and getting used to the speed of the game.

On being ready for this stretch: We’ve had such a run of close games. The guys have done really well. This is an enjoyable team to coach. We understand the task at hand. We’re not good enough to look ahead more than one day.
