Stephen got DL coach Frank Okam and players James Lockhart and Deonte Williams. Videos coming shortly.
>Okam cited how well he thought the interior of the DL looked. He pointed to James Lynch (remember, Lynch had a pretty good finish to his season) and the possibility of playing Greg Roberts at all four DL positions.
>At DE, he talked about the emergence of Deonte Williams. That's encouraging because Williams came to Baylor as LB (has been groomed to play DE) and missed all of spring because of shoulder surgery.
>As for the DL pressure Okam talked about how he would like to have four plays a quarter where the front is doing something to disrupt the QB. That could be a sack, knockdown, hurry or hit. You've probably heard that players have talked about 40 sacks this year. Okam specifically mentioned trying to collect three sacks per game (36 for a 12 game season). Remember, Baylor had 23 sacks in 2017.
Matt Rhule will speak to the media before practice on Wednesday and then that will be the last media availability for the week. The Bears don't practice Thursday.
For the season that starts on Monday Aug. 27, Rhule is expected to do a noon presser. Have to check to see if those will be linked. I'll transcribe the notes from Rhule when he does his segment on the Big 12 coaches call. Rhule's 10-minute segment starts at 11 am. Not sure if there will be a second media availability segment for the week. I think that's going to be determined soon.
