Passing this along. We've learned within the last couple of hours that Baylor has finalized details to open the 2020 season at NRG Stadium in Houston against an UNNAMED SEC opponent. That would be the weekend of Sept. 5. Of course, it's been reported from various outlets since the summer of 2015 that Baylor had been hoping to get something worked out.

All that's left is for the contract and other details to come from ESPN. The opponent has not been named because both sides are waiting for ESPN. It's really not clear how close or far away an announcement is. This single game series event will be similar to what you have seen at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and what NRG Stadium has been doing. On Labor Day weekend 2015, Texas A&M played Arizona State.

At first, the opponent seemed to be Arkansas. Remember, there has been some hope that Baylor could open up 2019 at NRG. The Razorbacks were mentioned. However, the Razorbacks have a game with Michigan in 2019, so that's what caused everything to be pushed from 2019 to 2020. Now, it still may be Arkansas. But we don't know that yet.

As for the rest of the SEC teams for 2020, here's what we found from the future football schedules web site:

SEC West
Alabama -- Open
Arkansas -- Open
Auburn -- Open
LSU -- Open but likely not the Tigers since they play Texas Sept. 12
Miss St. -- Open but likely not the Bulldogs since they play NC State Sept. 12
Ole Miss -- Open
Texas A&M -- Open but likely not the Aggies since they play UNT Sept. 12 and Colorado Sept. 19

SEC East
Florida -- Open
Georgia -- Open
Kentucky -- No because they play Eastern Michigan Sept. 5.
Missouri -- No because they play Central Arkansas (they could get out of that non-FBS contract)
South Carolina -- Open
Tennessee -- Open
Vanderbilt -- Open

If you eliminate the five where there are conflicts and accept the premise Vanderbilt and likely Missouri and South Carolina aren't options, that makes it one of six possibilities -- Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida and Georgia. The SEC is going to want that school's fan base to travel. Those aforementioned schools have traditionally traveled well in the past.

BTW, in case you don't know, Baylor's other 2019 OOC game is SFA. Baylor is also playing UTSA and Rice.

Will keep working on this to bring you more details. Safe to say the upgrade in Baylor's OOC is becoming more and more a reality.
