LEADING OFF

• Baylor Baseball welcomes No. 12 Texas to Baylor Ballpark this weekend for a three-game series to start the second half of Big 12 play.

• The Bears are coming off a tight, 6-5 loss at No. 21 DBU Tuesday night. Down to their last strike, the Bears rallied to load the bases in the top of the ninth and had the game-tying run just 90 feet away before junior OF Hunter Simmons' 105 mile-an-hour line drive was caught in center field.

• The Bears bounced back from an 0-4 week to go 3-1 against Stephen F. Austin and Oklahoma, claiming their second conference series victory of the year and moving into 8th place in the league standings at 4-8.

• BU hit .283 as a team last week, including standout performances from freshman INF Kolby Branch (.467), junior INF/OF Cole Posey (.438) and junior OF Hunter Simmons (.412).
