Baylor junior quarterback Seth Russell (broken bone in his neck) apparently has a follow up on Monday with his doctors to determine how far he has progressed since his neck surgery in November.
From what we've learned, if the reports come back favorable for Russell, there's a "very good chance" that Russell WILL be able to go through spring football drills when they begin on Feb. 25. The extent of how he will be able to participate and what Russell will be able to do will be determined later. Of course, you can be assured that Baylor will take every precaution beyond putting the red jersey on Russell to make sure he can go through spring drills as best as possible.
A favorable report would surpass the initial timetable that had Russell out for at least six months. Had that timetable held, Russell would have missed the spring.
Russell suffered his broken neck in the fourth quarter against Iowa State on Oct. 24. He finished the 2015 season completing 59 percent of his passes for 2,104 yards and 29 touchdowns against six interceptions. He also rushed for 402 yards and six touchdowns.
