Not a real long Q&A with Baylor's head coach

(Billings update) "Those ankle sprains are hard on big guys, so we'll see. He's wanting to go, but whether he can go or not is a different story. It's Wednesday and he's not a guy we've got to grind through a lot of reps. If he's ready to go Saturday, he'll play. In our minds there's no day past Saturday. He's out there but very limited. He's out of the boot but not the normal shoe."

(Is Corey Coleman best blocking receiver?) "We ask him to catch touchdown passes and be a good teammate. If we're looking for great blocking receivers, that's not what we're looking for at Baylor."

(Coleman as a leader) "Legacies are most of the time for later in life. What it means if you're an aspiring receiver and a passionate player that Baylor is a great place to come to play at the highest level in the nation. He's done what we expected him to do. We're not sitting around here surprised and wide eyed by what he's accomplished. There's a lot more left out there, and that's the thing that's inspiring."

(On DC Phil Bennett) If you're up by 21 or 28, it puts the other offense in predictable situations. As a staff we understand that, and that's the way we play. We have simple rules: On offense, you score. On defense you keep them from scoring.

:We're not trying to over-evaluate how it happens. That's what you're supposed to do. If you're on defense you get 3 and outs, if you're on offense you score touchdowns. (Bennett) is a dang good defensive coordinator, he's one of the best in the country. Baylor is one of the best teams in the country, it's one of the best universities, so why not have the best coaches? If I didn't think he was the best in the country he wouldn't be here."

(Trevor Clemons-Valdez) 'He came to us and wanted to come back. That says a whole lot about him that he's a consummate team player and loves the game and the people and the environment. You can sit in a lot of places but if you sit in the locker room it's pretty special.

"He's a guy I have a tremendous amount of respect for and I'm excited he came back because we needed him. We needed his spirit more than anything. He's a guy that's just a great teammate and does a good job on the field. First and foremost he's a we-first guy all the way. Just a great guy to be around."
