Briles met with the media on Wednesday.
>As we suspected LB Taylor Young (sprained AC Joint) won't play against Lamar. The Bears really don't need him. He will have three weeks to be ready for Rice.
>Also, the one-game suspensions are over for DE Shawn Oakman and S Orion Stewart. They will start Saturday.
Transcript:
(Taylor Young won't play this week) Hopefully he'll be back for Rice. He's doing good quite honestly but I don't think he's quite ready to go this week.
I could tell he had a little something wrong because he's a guy who never shows any indication of any injury. I'm glad he's OK. That's always a concern any time you put on the pads.
(Will any more true freshmen play against Lamar) I don't think so right now. You never know what the season is going to hold but right now I think we're pretty good with the rest of them hopefully being able to redshirt. It will be better for them and us in the long run.
(Briles plans to start Oakman and Stewart after one-game suspensions) They're ready to go so we're excited to have them back on the field.
(On playing Chris Johnson) Chris' mind can still fluctuate between wide receiver and QB, so he'll always be ready. He'll be ready for any situation where he might have the opportunity to play. Right now both these guys Seth and Jarrett need more experience. That's the way we're approaching the games.
(Jay Lee) He's been real steady through the past. He just needs to bring more to the table. He knows it and I know it. We expect a lot more out of him. We're putting him in a situation where he needs to step up and make plays. He's been here five years and his mind and body both need to match equally to being the best he can be.
We've got high hopes and high plans for him. It's got to be a deal where we're thinking and feeling the same thing.
