I believe this is the opening remark: "It's unfortunate for everybody concerned. Our timeline was followed by what the standards were here. The incident happened, he was off the roster and never played a down for us. It's a very unfortunate situation for all concerned.
I talked to Chris Petersen personally and there was no mention of anything beyond Sam being depressed and needing to come home. That was our information and that's what you go by."
(On Texas Monthly report that Boise State denied a letter from Baylor seeking immediate eligibility for Ukwuachu) "Nobody really allows those things to happen for transfers to be eligible immediately. I wasn't involved in that process."
(Giving players opportunities) "It's not just kids, it's everybody if justified. If you haven't got anything in your past that would justify not being given an opportunity then you do it. There's different levels. We've had some guys who have come in here and have been in maybe a small amount of trouble before that have turned out pretty well. And we've had some leave here who have gone other places and have turned out well.
That's just the nature of the business. We're always going to make sure a guy is worthy of that opportunity."
(On going by Baylor's investigation) "That's what we went by. That's why he was allowed to stay in school. I didn't investigate it. No one ever approached me from either side or gave me any information ever. My involvement was just the facts that were going on at the time.
When we found out something happened we removed him from the roster. That's how I was involved. He wouldn't participate for Baylor."
(On recruiting players with questionable backgrounds) "Show me a record, show me a prior. Something of that nature (sexual assault) of course not. Maybe minor theft, something along those lines. Nobody is going to do that, bring somebody with a prior conviction or really an allegation. We made our decision on knowledge that we had two years ago and here we are today."
