The Bears worked out on Wednesday morning over at the Highers Athletics Complex.

>Baylor's first fall scrimmage is Saturday. It will be in the morning. It's another one of those pool reporter type of scenarios where no other media is allowed. It is at Highers.

>WR KD Cannon (hip flexor) and OL Pat Colbert (knee) both returned to working out.

>Briles said that punt returning duties would rest between Corey Coleman and Lynx Hawthorne. If Baylor decides not to redshirt J.W. Ketchum, the staff would consider him a part of the answer. Whatever role(s) Ketchum would fill are unknown at this time.

>Briles also said that he thought freshman QB Jarrett Stidham was progressing well. Briles said there has been no decision on whether to redshirt Stidham.

>Freshman punter Drew Galitz is off to a good start. That's good because he's the only option for that position. For now, the staff is not looking at him as a PK. However, he does have that in his background. Should either Chris Callahan or Spencer Evans struggle, Galitz could be an option.

Just a few more things in specific detail from Briles.
(Morning practice):
Classes are out so it allows us to do this. When we do our two a days we go out in the morning and lighten up a little in the afternoon.

(Special teams practice in the afternoon on two a days) We'll have a few more this year than last year. This is good because guys are bigger, stronger and faster and it's all about keeping them healthy.

(Drew Galitz) He's athletic and his leg is lively. He's a pretty confident kid. We don't have a choice. He's got to be (the punter). It bodes well for us. He probably won't do it (kick) this year. He's just got to help us punting right now.
Hopefully it will work out like last year. Chris (Callahan) will do extra points and field goals and Spencer (Evans) will do kickoffs and maybe long field goals.

(Strength coach greeting line): That's something they've developed here which I think is a really positive way to start practice. Everybody is amped up and lively once they hit the field. It's all about being consistent. Our strength coaches do that on a daily basis with our players.

(Punt returners) It's probably going to be Corey (Coleman) and Lynx (Hawthorne) and maybe J.W. Ketchum, it depends on whether he plays or not. Anytime you can be the best in Houston, you can go down there and talk to any of those coaches and players in that area, you ask who is the best in Houston regardless of position, they say J.W. Ketchum. That's not like being the best in Rule. It's a pretty good accomplishment.

(On decision whether to play Jarrett Stidham). No rush. We're just playing that out day to day and it will take care of itself. We're certainly pleased with his progress and we think he and Chris (Johnson) are doing really well. Seth's predictability is increasing which is what we wanted.
