Just a couple of items from Tuesday with the Baylor head coach as practice resumed on Tuesday

>The coaching staff is still going to hold WR KD Cannon out of practice because of the hip flexor issue. Not really concerned about anything long term. That's pretty much in line with what we reported on Saturday.

>OL Pat Colbert (knee issue) was also back out there. That also doesn't sound too serious.

>The sense around QB Seth Russell is that he's moving along like the staff would have hoped.

>This is only the 4th practice of all camp.

I'll pass along more if I learn more.

Some quotes
(On Saturday's practice)
It was just a regular workout. It's kind of hard to tell this early quite honestly. We're still in the get back stage. We're trying to get our bodies and minds back into it and in the mode of this is how you do it on a day in and day out basis. That's what football season is, particularly camp.

If you're a track guy you just don't jump on the track and run real fast. You've got to kind of build up to it. We're trying to build up to it and get ready for Sept. 4.

(On KD Cannon and Pat Colbert being held out of Saturday's practice. Both suited up Tuesday): Pat's a little better. KD's fine, no issues.

(Nickelback position): Pat Levels is in there in a three-man look where he's playing outside backer. Blanchard is really good. He's rangy, smart and instinctive. He's inspirational. He's a momentum guy and gets people excited. He really cares about the game.

(On Seth Russell becoming starting QB) He certainly put it on lay away so to speak. He's been paying on it for a while and now it's his opportunity to make sure the clothes fit. He's in good shape. He's doing a good job. He's been real steady and has been very predictable. We just need to get a little more precise which I think will come with more reps. Where he's at right now is really good.

((Backup offensive line): They're doing well. A couple of those guys are JC guys who are young with our program but they've been around a little bit. They're all capable and that's the best part. We've got Big 12 depth so we got good guys across the board. There are guys that played a bunch last year in front of them but these guys are capable and can really contribute.

They'll be ready. But we're in a year to year business so we don't even think about next year.
