Briles said Baylor starting QB Seth Russell went to see a specialist at 10:00 am Monday. They have not heard anything on his status as of 11:10 am on Monday.

Remember, this is no Monday presser because Baylor is off Saturday.

UPDATE ANDREW BILLINGS (11:55 AM MONDAY): We're told that Baylor junior NT Andrew Billings (sprained ankle) is expected to have a limited work week as the Bears are going through their bye week. Obviously, Baylor wants to be very careful and has some time to work with before it can make any kind of decision for the Nov. 5 game at Kansas State.

On Jarrett Sitdham: “We have tons of confidence in Jarrett Stidham. He’s beyond his years as a freshman. He doesn’t perform like a freshman…any time you’re in games in September for on field game situations, it gives you some comfort. He’s a guy we felt all along that he was going to be a really productive player for us. If it's a situation where it’s his time, our team will around him.”

On how much he’s spoken with Stidham and if he’s ready: “I’ve not had much conversation over the last couple of days. A little Saturday night. Our thoughts are with Seth. Once we have clarity, then we’ll move forward. As a team, we’ll fight hard for Seth and Jarrett and continue our quest.’’

On the veterans on offense: “With offensive line we have, it takes a lot of the pressure off the [QB] position. He’s a capable player. He’s ready.”

On the extra week for KSU: “It’s very critical. The thing that will help is with our center [Kyle Fuller]. There’s a change in cadence. A chance to develop cohesiveness with the running backs… Shock Linwood and Devin Chafin…and getting timing with our receivers. He’s been throwing the so-called 2s. Now, it’s going to be with the other guys. But he’s messed with those guys and the running backs in the fall. The transition period will be minimal.”

On being called a system QB: “Who knows. I guess the [New England] Patriots have their system. That could be said about any university or offense or defense so to speak. They’ve got to do what they believe. If a guy’s good, he’s good. If he’s not, he won’t play anywhere.”

On if he believes the OOC teams can help: “At the end of the day, some of that will possibly help. If you run the table, there’s a lot great opportunities and chances to get big victories out there. It’s all about taking care of business week to week. We have to get ready against K-State, a very good team that we have a lot of respect for.’’

On WR Corey Coleman being shirtless at his postgame ISU pressure: “I didn’t know anything until Sunday. If I had known, it wouldn’t have happened.’’

On the QB depth chart if Russell is out: “[Behind Stidham] Chris Johnson and then we’ll dabble on who is the third. We feel really good about Jarrett and CJ.’’
