Kansas, WVU and Baylor were glad they had byes this weekend as for the second week in a row top programs struggled with lesser teams in non-conference matchups.

The last two months have not been kind to Baylor football. No need to rehash the past, but Baylor has to restart their season against Rice. It is beginning to look like this season in college football will be about offense, but I hope that our defense is as good as originally advertised. If not, hang on to your hat.

OU - Tulsa - great guy and Baker Mayfield is a magician. Love that kid and he will only get better. OU is getting better and scoring points. OU fans must be punch drunk without a defense that knocks people out, but look at what TCU has been able to do nationally changing gears. Great game for Monty and for things to come. I just hope UT doesn't land him as their next head coach.

TCU - SMU -The Toads had plenty of film to watch to stop SMU, but they don't have the horses (pun intended) right now. Their defense is porous and I think TCU may be like Baylor RGIII's last year - they have to score big to win big games. Froggies fans are shaking their heads today because this game was supposed to show them how much better they were than Baylor.

OSU - UTSA - I watched the first half and if it hadn't been for four UTSA turnovers this game might have turned out differently. OSU looks so beatable as their OL isn't very good and their defensive secondary is suspect. However, UTSA self destructed and OSU evidently had a great second half. Randolph is the real deal, but OSU is not the top team in the conference, yet.

TT - Arkansas - so glad to see the Big 12 defeat a good SEC team for the second week in a row (OU/Tenn). You have to admit that TT looked good. They were well prepared, played hard, looked well coached and Mahomes looks like a Heisman candidate. Love that kid. Serious, that kid has ice in his veins and is only going to get better. Things are looking up for TT and while I thought this style was lacking Coach Bro let the Arkansas coach have it and he had it coming. Before you get too jacked up, Arkansas was beaten on the same field by Toledo last week. Still, would not want to be TCU this week against TT. They will be playing with a lot of confidence.

KSU- LaTech - Kansas State won and in the end that is all that matters. Snyder's guys always get better as the season wears on. La Tech is a better team that a lot of people realize. Western Kentucky beat them the week before but Western Kentucky also beat Vanderbilt in the first game of the season. Nevertheless, KSU prevails in a weekend of upsets or close games.

UT - CA - A lot of positives for UT, but they imploded on the PAT. This is a line in the sand moment. The program will fail or they will turn it around. By the end of the year I think Strong will be under real pressure only beating ISU, in a close game, and Kansas in a blow out. Heard is good, but he will get clobbered in Big 12 behind that line. What a pathetic game at home against the third best team in the PAC north.

ISU - Toledo - Toledo wins. ISU will be competitive in some games. That's it. Is it possible that Toledo could be ranked in a few weeks if they continue to play well? We might look at hiring their defensive coordinator if anything ever happens to PB.

Don't know about you guys, but I am glad we didn't play this weekend. I am not looking forward to next Friday night. Hope there aren't any more press releases or announcements.
