Texas A&M transfer and former Rivals250 DL from Ennis high school James Lockhart confirmed that new Baylor assistant Joey McGuire and other coaches from the new Bears' staff have been in contact.

At this point, other programs like Texas and TCU have expressed interest, but with the spring semester starting next Monday (Jan. 9) it seems like a decision could come soon.

Lockhart is waiting for a 'green light' from the Baylor coaches and we could see an announcement later in the week.

From the A&M official site, Lockhart was listed at 6-foot-3, 260-pounds. He mentioned playing time as a big factor for the transfer from A&M. He is allowed to sign with any non-SEC program or any program not listed on A&M's future schedule(s).

More as we know, certainly something to monitor this week though.

(UPDATE: Tuesday 9:20 AM): Sounding like we'll know something more definitive on Lockhart either Wednesday or Thursday. It's a matter of the paper work being finalized etc. But everything points to this happening for Baylor. We'll keep you posted.

(UPDATE: Monday 8:05 PM):
Hearing this may be done in that Lockhart should be at Baylor by the end of the week. Checking more.
