It is with a lot of pride that I announce that Russ Bell has been elected to the University of Missouri's Sports Hall of Fame. (That is a little difficult for a dyed-in-the-wool Bear to say) I have had him on campus and let him touch cousin Jack's statue. And I have taken him to Round Rock to the site of the crash. Russ was a five time All-American competing in the Big 12 in track and field. He also played defensive tackle his junior and senior years (2002 and 2003) for the Tigers. His football performance earned him a brief free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs before an injury cut his NFL career short. We went on to play arena football for a year or two. Russ will be inducted next month in ceremonies in Columbia and featured in the men's basketball game against (gulp) TAMU. Congratulations, Russ! Oh, and Sic em, Bears!
