West Virginia wing Jalen Bridges announced Wednesday that he has committed to Scott Drew's program beginning in 2022-23.

The move comes shortly after he completed his official visit to Waco Monday and Tuesday. Bridges will have three years of eligibility remaining. He chose Baylor over Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan State. At one point, Michigan State was considered the leader.

Bridges played his first two years under Bob Huggins at WVU and averaged 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds along with playing 26 minutes per game. He shot nearly 43 percent from the field and 32 percent from the arc. He was named to the Big 12 all-freshman team in 2020-21.

This is the first portal move by the Bears this offseason. Guard Dillon Hunter was released from his national letter of intent on Tuesday and committed to Clemson.

As expected, the Bears lost Kendall Brown and Jeremy Sochan to the NBA draft. Point guard James Akinjo is going into the draft. However, they got news guard LJ Cryer would be returning as would big Flo Thamba. Cryer announced he had foot surgery following the season and expects to make a full recovery.

Oddly enough, this is the second consecutive year Baylor has plucked a player from West Virginia. Ohio native Dale Bonner committed to the Bears after playing at Division II Fairmont State.
