Some really interesting tidbits…
  • Baylor finished the 2021-22 season with 27 wins, the 4th-most in program history (30 in 2012, 28 in 2010 and 2021).
  • Baylor’s comeback from 25 points down to force overtime tied the largest in NCAA Tournament history. The Bears trailed 67-42 with 10:10 remaining, then out-scored North Carolina 38-13 to close regulation.
  • Baylor is now 21-15 in 14 all-time NCAA Tournaments, including an 18-9 record under head coach Scott Drew. This was Baylor’s first NCAA Tournament game to go to overtime.
  • Baylor fell to 5-2 in NCAA Tournament Second Round games during the Drew era.
  • Baylor’s streak of 16-straight wins in neutral-site non-conference games was snapped. It was the first such loss since Nov. 8, 2019.
  • Baylor fell to 21-6 in overtime games during the Drew era.
  • The 42 first-half points allowed were the most allowed before the break by a BU defense since Feb. 16, 2019 at Texas Tech (45).
  • Baylor’s streak of 38-straight wins when scoring 80+ points was snapped (first such loss since Jan. 5, 2019).
  • Baylor set school NCAA Tournament records for field goals attempted (81 – previously 75 vs. Hartford in 2021) and 3-point attempts (37 – previously 34 vs. Syracuse in 2019)
  • Baylor’s 86 points tied the 2nd-most in an NCAA Tournament game in program history and the Bears’ 10 steals were their 2nd-most in an NCAA Tournament game.
  • Baylor is 55-9 over the last 2 seasons, the nation’s best record by a Power-5 team.
  • Baylor is 81-13 over the last 3 seasons, the nation’s best record by a Power-5 team.
  • Baylor is 38-3 in non-conference games over the last 3 seasons.
  • Baylor played without three injured scholarship players – LJ Cryer, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, Langston Love.
  • Flo Thamba tied a Baylor record by starting his 8th career NCAA Tournament game. He tied Mark Vital and Jared Butler, who both started eight games total in the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Tournaments.
  • Thamba and Matthew Mayer extended their school-record by playing in their 10thcareer NCAA Tournament games.
  • Adam Flagler (27 points) scored in double-figures for a team-high 25th time this season, 39th time in his Baylor career and 71st time in his collegiate career. He has scored 10+ points in 22 of his last 24 games played.
  • Flagler’s 27 points tied the 2nd-most in an NCAA Tournament game in program history (Taurean Prince had 28 in 2016).
  • Flagler’s 10 made field goals tied the 2nd-most in an NCAA Tournament game in program history (Prince had 12 in 2016).
  • Flagler had his 6th 20-point game of the season, 7th of his BU career and 17th of his collegiate career.
  • James Akinjo (20 points) scored in double-figures for the 234d time this season and 72nd time in his collegiate career.
  • Akinjo had his 6th 20-point game of the season and the 18th of his collegiate career.
  • Jeremy Sochan (15 points, 11 rebounds) had his 2nd double-double. He scored in double-figures for the 14th time this season and had his 5th double-digit rebounding game.
  • Sochan became the first freshman to post an NCAA Tournament double-double in program history. His 11 rebounds tied the 4th-most by a Baylor player in an NCAA Tournament game.
  • Mayer (10 points) scored in double-figures for the 17th time this season and 38th time in his career.
  • Mayer had a team-best +16 plus-minus in 27 minutes, while no other BU players were positive in plus-minus.
