Just a couple of items....
>Your roster situation appears to be settled. We're hearing Baylor is pursuing a medical redshirt for LB Xavier Phillips (knee). In his case he would be taken off the roster but still on scholarship. That's the same thing with RB Anthony Webb. DT Suleiman Masumbuko is transferring to Tulsa for his final year of eligibility. He has graduated. As we reported several days ago, DT Trevor Clemons-Valdez is no longer playing but will stay with Baylor as a volunteer assistant. He is pursuing his graduate degree this year.
>Another note on Rivals No. 50 DE Brandon Bowen of Trophy Club Byron Nelson. While it's early, we have learned that if Bowen were to stay to play D1 ball in Texas, Baylor has the lead. However, if USC and UCLA enter the picture strong (the Trojans are looking at him pretty hard), then that could be the game changer.
>There is also a 2017 WR to watch from Byron Pascal Mondombo. 6-2, 180 4.53 33 vertical. Raw but athletic. Worth tracking this fall. He's expected to be the big-play receiver this year. I saw him at Byron Nelson's spring game in May and the athleticism is noteworthy.
Enjoy your afternoon.
