The Baylor coaches hosted another couple of hundred Houston-area prospects at Cypress Falls (TX) high school last night. There were talented players on the field, but the story of this camp might end up being the star power that showed up to simply hang around the Baylor coaching staff.

Standout prospects show up in numbers:
Every year during the satellite camp series, numerous local prospects to the area who already hold offers from the coaching staff stop by to spend time around the coaching staff. Courtney will be uploading video interviews from most of these players throughout the week, but we were able to connect with every prospect that stopped by last night.
Stafford (TX) 2017 Rivals100 WR, Hezekiah Jones
Jones and his father showed up wearing Baylor gear, and both spent a lot of time around the Baylor coaching staff. In speaking with Jones, it has become clear that he is very interested in what the Bears' coaches are doing with the Baylor program on offense.
Manvel (TX) Rivals100 S, Deontay Anderson
Anderson was another prospect on hand to watch the camp last night. The standout prospect has built a good relationship with the Baylor coaches and has the Bears in his current Top 10 list of programs. He is planning multiple visits this summer, already visiting LSU this past week with visits setup to A&M, Ole Miss and Georgia.
Elsik (TX) Rivals250 LB, Dontavious Jackson
Jackson included Baylor in his recent list of Top 18 programs, yes 18 is correct, but the standout prospect held over 60+ offers and getting that down to 18 programs is impressive at this stage in the process. His plans this summer involve visits to several out of state programs, but he remains very interested in what the Baylor coaches are doing in Waco and has a former teammate on the roster in Ishmael Zamora.

Monroe has recently told SicEmSports that he will announce his top schools at The Opening this summer and that Baylor would be included. His appearance last night is still significant, it's more face time with another top prospect for the defensive coaches that continue to look for defensive backs in this 2016 class.
Port Arthur (TX) Memorial Rivals250 RB and Baylor commit, Kameron Martin
Nothing has changed with Baylor running back commitment Kameron Martin, the standout prospect remains firmly committed to the Bears and drove a few hours to spend time with the coaches last night. When asked how the night was going, Martin smiled ear to ear and said, "I like it all, I'm having a great time here."
Houston (TX) Westfield WR, Tyrie Cleveland
The standout receiver showed up to spend time around the coaches and had really good things to say about his new(er) relationship with the Baylor coaching staff, Kendal Briles in particular. We included Cleveland's teammate, QB Dillon Sterling-Cole, because the two are close and now consider themselves a
'package deal'.
Clearly the quarterback position in 2016 has been taken care of for a calendar year with Zach Smith, but Sterling-Cole did express some interest in the Baylor program and mentioned being on hand to support his brother Trey Baldwin - who we will discuss later in this camp notebook.

Long did not participate at the camp last night due to a nagging foot injury, but the standout prospect remains very interested in the Baylor program and wants to earn an offer from the Bears this off season. Long actually plays quarterback for North Shore, but his 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame will move him to the linebacker position at the next level. He is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on as the off season progresses and the coaches prioritize their linebacker recruiting in 2016.
Elsik (TX) S, Chris Brown
Brown is a very intriguing safety prospect and has picked up several new offers this spring. He is receiving interest from the Baylor coaches and could be a prospect that ends up receiving an offer later this off season, dependent on what happens with some of these higher rated safety prospects - especially with a few commitments already taken in 2016.

Spring (TX) DT, Bravvion Roy
No real surprise here, but Roy was on hand to spend time around the Baylor coaches last night. He is clear to anyone that asks, Baylor is his leader and the standout prospect speaks highly of his relationship with the coaching staff. The date is still up in the air, but he would like to make his commitment on his mother's birthday, June 21st.

Dunn did not work out, but did spend a lot of time around the coaching staff and even helped the receiver coaches during position drills. Dunn does not hold an offer from Baylor. He has visited Waco before and continues to receive interest from the coaches. He had a very productive senior season and is a good prospect, but I'm not certain an offer from the Baylor coaches is on the way for Dunn. There were at least 2-3 receivers actually working out who the coaches could offer before getting to Dunn.

Deculus did not work out last night and mentioned that he plans on attending the Baylor camp in Waco this Sunday. The 2017 standout stands at 6-foot-6, 290-pounds and definitely passes the eye-test. He mentioned the Baylor coaches were 'in' on him and his teammates early on in the recruiting process, intimating that meant something to him when looking at his options.

Baldwin brings size and speed to the linebacker position, a prospect that does not hesitate to the ball and plays downhill very well.
Langham Creek (TX) WR, Quartney Davis
Davis had a really good night, impressing everyone with his speed and route running. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, the standout receiver could very well have earned himself an offer from the Baylor coaches last night. The Bears' staff has been very selective with new receiver offers though, a new offer to Davis might not happen right away, but he is a prospect to watch this off season. Davis has added several new offers this spring, and he is set to visit A&M this weekend and believes an offer is coming from the Aggies this Sunday.
Friendswood (TX) Clear Brook WR, Brandon Taylor
Taylor will never impress anyone with his size at 5-foot-7, 145-pound, but the receiver prospect is blazing fast and made a several defensive backs look foolish last night. Every program is different with the type of prospects they 'take' at certain positions, but Taylor could be a great weapon in the right offense. He does not hold any offers at the moment and that should change later this off season. Taylor has interest from Northwestern and Houston at the moment. He reported a 10.3 100m in track this past season and is also hearing from some schools about track & field scholarships. My opinion? Stay in touch with this young man and see how his senior season plays out. For those familiar, this young man reminds me of Texas Tech receiver Jakeem Grant - very fast, very slippery and a weapon to use in a variety of ways on offense.
Ridge Point (TX) OL, Travis Bruffy
Bruffy had a good performance at the camp last night, showing a lot more athleticism and better lateral movement than he had in other camps or games we have seen previously. At 6-foot-7, 270-pounds, the standout tackle prospect brings a great frame for college coaches to mold at the next level. With two bookends committed in the 2016 class, the Baylor coaches might not make a move on Bruffy anytime soon, but there is interest there and something could happen later in the process.
Elsik (TX) CB, Aaron 'AJ' Jackson
Jackson might not end up receiving much interest from the Baylor coaches, but the corner prospect showed impressive man coverage skills in the one-on-one drills. He does not hold any offers at the moment and should begin to add a few with camp performances like the one last night.
Houston (TX) Madison OL, Anthonie Thomas
The Baylor coaches like their players huge and Thomas certainly fits that bill at a towering 6-foot-7, 330-pounds. Thomas is not likely to earn that offer from Baylor any time soon, if at all, but deserves to be mentioned for working out in Waco on Sunday and then again at the camp last night.

He is one of the top tight end prospects in the nation for the 2017 class and although Wright rarely speaks, he did say that the Baylor coaches are heavily involved in his recruitment.

Carter was another top rated underclassman prospect that worked out for the coaches last night. He mentioned that Baylor, Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama and Georgia as programs that are standing out to him at the moment. Originally from New Orleans, Carter does lean towards LSU a little bit, but you never know with recruiting and the coaches have already made an impression with the standout back.
St. Thomas (TX) 2017 Rivlas100 WR, Jhamon Ausbon
Ausbon is a big receiver at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds and had a good camp last night. He does not currently hold an offer from the Baylor coaches, but is certainly a prospect to watch moving forward. The Baylor coaches usually look for track speed in their receivers, but that qualification might not be as stern for 6-foot-4 prospects. Ausbon won most of his one-on-one match-ups last night and used his big frame to create space on shorter routes, even going down field for touchdown catches on more than one occasion.
Beaumont (TX) Central ATH, Brandon Goins
Goins was a standout in the defensive backs group last night and is a prospect to watch over the next 6 months. Most 2017 prospects have yet to see their recruitment really pickup, but Goins has the size and athleticism to compete at a Power 5 program. He could become a prospect the Bears' coaches take a closer look at later in the process.
Houston (TX) Lamar QB, Owen Holt
Holt is a bit of an unknown prospect at this point, but we have now seen him at a handful of camps this off season and the 2017 quarterback prospect continues to impress. Will he become a prospect the Baylor coaches take a hard look at? Maybe not, but Holt can spin the ball and should become more of a familiar name after he puts together some varsity tape this upcoming season.
Richmond (TX) Travis OL, Will Farrar
Farrar is a 2017 prospect that continues to add new offer after new offer almost every day during this spring. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect moves well for a big man and continues to receive interest from the Baylor coaches. The 2017 class is pretty deep with quality offensive line prospects and Farrar could factor in for the Bears eventually, but it appears to be a wait and see type of situation for now.
