Some basketball notables:

>Call it another win-win visit for Katy Morton Ranch and longtime Baylor guard target L.J. Cryer who visited the campus on Sunday. It’s at least his seventh known visit to Waco since the Bears offered him two years ago.
The four-star guard is rated the No. 16 point guard in the 2020 class. The Bears would appear to have the lead in this recruitment. A decision is expected from Cryer’s camp sometime in the summer. From what we know, it could be in the next couple of days or in August. But everything points to Cryer signing in November.

>Scott Drew and John Jakus will be attending the NBPA Top 100 camp Thursday and Friday in Charlottesville, VA. Besides Cryer, Baylor is zeroing on three bigs for the two known spots for the 2020 class – Devonte Bandoo and Freddie Gillespie will be the only seniors – but that could expand to four because of potential attrition or players declaring for the NBA draft.

*Huntington (WV) Prep and Rivals No. 9 rated center Zach Loveday already took his official visit to Baylor in April following his playing in a tournament in DFW. Other officials are being planned. A decision could come in the fall.

*Oskaloosa (IA) 7-footer Xavier Foster is also one of those targets. While the Rivals FutureCast favors Iowa, we’re hearing the Hawkeyes are out of it. This could be a battle between the Bears and Big 12 rival Iowa State. There’s the appeal of playing close to home in Ames or working with a staff that has had success developing bigs. A summer/fall decision is expected.

*Baylor recently offered McKinney (TX) Ischool Entrepreneurial Academy 6-10 big Jonathan Aku. Aku has a mix of P5 and non-P5 offers. The staff did a ton of evaluation of this prospect over the spring and really liked his ability to run the floor and block shots. He has a pretty long wingspan. Time will tell when Aku makes a commitment decision.

All of these targets are expected to be in Charlottesville during the week.
